what is OCAD…? I mean, i can see it’s a university for art and design, but beyond that, is it anything special…?

No. I recall it was partially created to handle the additional influx of high school graduates due to the double cohort.

my grandmother went to OCA (the Ontario College of Art) which eventually became OCAD in the 1960s. She went there in the 1940’s and studied with members of the group of 7.

Which one was started up to handle the double cohort then?

it’s basically an art and design school. It has a few major programs: graphic design, marketing, art, sculpture, and media arts. It also has masters degrees in museum studies, curatorial studies, an MFA program and education.
It’s probably one of the best arts universities in the country.

oh, cool.
my friend told me that “OCAD is coming at” him, which I assumed meant he was being recruited. Messaged him back for clarification, but he also mentioned how that was the school he wanted to attend after high school. Sadly, that didn’t happen (bad car accident, he was in a coma for weeks, followed by years of rehab, lost finer mobility in his hands, so he can’t draw anymore…) It’s amazing how things turn out…
